The Checkers are looking to keep their road success rolling tonight as they visit one of the North Division’s top teams in Rochester.

QUICK HITS

ROAD WARRIORS

The Checkers rattled off two more road wins last week to give them four straight victories away from home, their longest such streak this season. Charlotte has 11 road wins this season - the most in the Atlantic Division and tied for the most in the Eastern Conference.

AGAINST THE AMERKS

The Checkers have enjoyed success against the Amerks thus far this season. When Rochester visited Charlotte in mid-December, the Checkers set a franchise record by hanging 11 goals on them in a stunning 11-1 blowout before taking the Amerks down 4-2 in the following night’s rematch.

Dating back to the 2019-20 season, the Checkers have won five straight games against Rochester and are 11-2-1-0 all time against the Amerks.

OFFENSE ON A ROLL

When the Checkers racked up six goals against the Crunch in their most recent contest, it was the fourth time this season that they have scored at least six goals in a single game. Charlotte has now scored at least four goals in six of its last eight contests and ranks fourth in the AHL in goals per game. The Checkers will aim to keep things rolling against a Rochester club that is giving up the third-most goals per game in the league.

HEPONIEMI'S HOT STREAK

Aleksi Heponiemi departed for the NHL earlier this month on a high note, and he has kept things rolling since his recent return. The forward has nine points in his last four games and has put up three consecutive multi-point games for Charlotte. Going back even further, Heponiemi has 11 points in his last six games and has record more than one point in seven of the 26 games he has logged for the Checkers this season.

SPECIAL TEAMS TRENDING UP

The Checkers have racked up three shorthanded goals over their last three games. Two came in Thursday’s win over Springfield, marking the second time this season that the Checkers have scored two shorthanded goals in a single game. Charlotte is currently tied for the league lead with eight shorthanded goals this season.
