The Hurricanes wrapped up their last remaining restricted free agent Thursday by signing Ryan Murphy to a two-year, one-way contract.

Murphy returns to the fold after splitting his first three pro seasons between Charlotte and Carolina. A first-round pick in 2011, the 23-year-old has been a consistent offensive force when with the Checkers, pumping in 65 points in 82 career games with Charlotte, including a career-high 24 (7g, 17a) in 32 games last season.

Given the nature of the one-way contract, it's likely that Murphy could spend the 2016-17 campaign in the NHL with Carolina. The blue liner would need to pass through waivers to join Charlotte.
