Born to English parents and raised in Charlotte, Wilson pairs a bit of dry British humor with a fun-loving attitude of the Carolinas. In short, he likes Shepherd's Pie and NASCAR.

You can see his "Wilson's World" segments on the Fox Charlotte TV morning show. As Chief Fan Rouser for the Charlotte Checkers, he is responsible for creating an enjoyable game atmosphere. Charlotte Checkers' fans know him for his antics during home games on and off the ice. He is also recognized from his radio days as well as his trademark "Wilson!" yell. Wilson first got on the microphone at a Checkers game in 1995 and still has his jersey from the '96 season! He enjoys making people laugh and says, “Applause is almost mandatory. If you can make people laugh, you’re really doing something.” His most memorable Checkers game was Feb. 21, 2009, which housed a record crowd of 12,398 and a 5-2 victory against the rival Florida Everblades. He's passionate about Checkers hockey and giving back to the Charlotte community, having participated in events such as Tip-A-Checker, Lift Up Ellie, and the Junior Checkers hockey program.
