Signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Carolina on 4/4/11 … Drafted in the sixth round (178th overall) by Carolina in 2009.

2011-12

Completed his first professional season and first with the Checkers … Recorded his first professional point, an assist on Drayson Bowman’s goal at SA (10/29) … Picked up the only fighting major of his career when he dropped the gloves with Mike Angelidis at NOR (11/23) … Had the lone assist on Matthew Pistilli’s goal that opened the scoring just 2:07 into the game and was plus-2 vs. MIL (11/27) … Assisted on Zach Boychuk’s game-tying goal and was plus-2 vs. HER (1/11) … Scored his first professional goal, an unassisted tally with 6:34 remaining in the third period that held up as the game-winner, vs. GR (1/15) … Notched his second goal of the season vs. RFD (1/27) … Took a career-high six shots on goal vs. PEO (3/20) … Scored his third goal of the campaign at RFD (4/10) … Took a career-high six penalty minutes in Charlotte’s last game of the season at MIL (4/15) … Games missed due to injury: 6 (upper body: 2/25-3/11; lower body: 4/5) … Sat out six games as a healthy extra (10/22, 10/28, 10/30, 11/6-11/12).

Totaled 27 points (5g, 22a) and 192 penalty minutes in 71 career regular-season games with Everett of the Western Hockey League (WHL)… Was Everett’s first-round selection (17th overall) in the 2009 CHL Import Draft… Ranked 52nd on NHL Central Scouting’s midterm list of international skaters for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, but rose to 37th in the organization’s final rankings… … Prior to beginning his North American career, had one goal, eight assists (9 points) and 66 penalty minutes in 34 career games for KalPa Jr. in the Finnish Junior League… Also played 38 games for KalPa’s U18 squad, earning eight goals and 10 assists (18 points) and totaling 127 penalty minutes… Played his first season of hockey in North America in 2009-10, totaling 15 points (4g, 11a) and earning a (+18) rating in 71 games with the Everett Silvertips (WHL)… Made his WHL debut at Seattle (9/18/09) ...
