Signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Carolina on 5/14/10 ... Acquired from Phoenix by Carolina in exchange for a fifth-round draft choice on 5/13/10 ...Drafted in the second round (49th overall) by Phoenix in 2008 ... Is the younger brother of NHLers Eric, Marc and Jordan Staal.
2011-12
Completed his second professional season and second with the Checkers ...Played a career-high 44 games with Charlotte and Providence, spending the entire season at the AHL level for the first time ...Set new career highs in goals (3), assists (5) and points (8) ...Made his season debut vs. HOU (10/21) ...Recorded his first point of the season, an assist on Justin Soryal's goal at HOU (10/30) ...
