Signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Carolina on 7/19/10 ... Acquired by Carolina from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Ottawa's 2010 second-round pick (46th overall) on 6/26/10 ... Drafted by Edmonton in the first round (21st overall) in 2007.

Was named both ECAC and Ivy League Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2007-08, after finishing second among Cornell skaters in scoring with 32 points on 12 goals and a team-best 20 assists... Was named to the ECAC First Team and earned honorable-mention All-Ivy League honors during his sophomore year in 2008-09, leading the Big Red with 35 points (13g, 22a)... Was invited to the selection camp for Team Canada for the 2009 World Junior Championships, but did not make the final roster... Was named third-team All-ECAC and honorable mention All-Ivy League after totaling 35 points (12g, 23a) in 30 games during his final season of college hockey in 2009-10...
