Biography
Selected by the Hurricanes in the seventh round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft
Is the son of former NHL player, coach and current Edmonton Oilers scout Duane Sutter and the nephew of former NHL players Brent, Brian, Daryl, Rich and Ron Sutter ... His cousin Brett plays in the Hurricanes organization and another cousin, Brandon, plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
2011-12
Joined the Checkers on an amater tryout contract near the end of the season, scoring one goal in four games ... Scored his first professional goal, the eventual game-winner, in Charlotte's 3-0 win at RFD (4/10) ... Made his professional debut vs. MIL (4/3) ... Played the majority of the season with WHL Lethbridge, where he served as team captain in his fifth junior season... Led the Hurricanes in goals (30) and points (60), both of which were career highs ... Also set a career high with 30 assists.
Junior
Totaled 125 points (57g, 68a) and 137 penalty minutes in 231 career Western Hockey League (WHL) games with Saskatoon and Lethbridge ... Limited to just 46 games in 2010-11 due to injuries ... Attended the Florida Panthers training camp as a free agent in 2010 ... Skated in a career-high 72 games and earned 14 points (5g, 9a) with Lethbridge during his second WHL season ... Totaled nine points (4g, 5a) in 48 total games during his rookie campaign in 2008-09, and appeared in 10 of Lethbridges playoff games as the Hurricanes fell to Calgary in the second round
