The "Road to Raleigh" is a monthly report of Checkers transactions, presented by North Carolina Zoo Asheboro. The following are players who were involved in transactions during the month of February.

The Checkers signed forward Brody Sutter to an amateur tryout on March 21, after the conclusion of the Western Hockey League (WHL) regular season. Sutter served as captain of the Lethbridge Hurricanes, recording 60 points (30g, 30a) in 65 games.
   


The Checkers recalled defenseman Ryan Donald on March 17 to fill the void left by Bobby Sanguinetti, who was playing with the Hurricanes. Donald skated in one game for the Checkers before returning to the Florida Everblades on March 21. Since his return to Florida, Donald has appeared in six games, recording two assists and a plus-5 rating.
   


The Carolina Hurricanes returned forward Jerome Samson to the Checkers on March 16. Samson appeared in 12 games for the Hurricanes during his most recent stint, recording four points (1g, 3a). Since his reassignment, he has played in eight games, recorded three points (1g, 2a) and still leads the team in shots (195).
   


On March 12, the Carolina Hurricanes recalled defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti for the first time since acquiring him in 2010. He played in two games before the Hurricanes returned him to Charlotte on March 16. However, on March 17, the Hurricanes recalled Sanguinetti for a second time. He appeared in one more game before returning to the Checkers on March 19.
   


The Checkers returned defenseman Chris Murray to the Florida Everblades (ECHL) on March 12. Due to injury, Murray appeared in only four games during his recall Since his return to Florida, he has skated in nine games and registered two assists and a plus-3 rating.
 
   


On March 5, the Checkers loaned forward Jared Staal to the Providence Bruins. Staal played in 37 games for the Checkers this season, recording six points (3g, 3a).
 
   


The Carolina Hurricanes returned forward Zach Boychuk to the Checkers on March 3. Boychuk skated in three games during his time in Raleigh, registering four shots on goal. Since his return to the Checkers, he has appeared in 11 games, scoring five goals and three assists.
   


A series of injuries and recalls resulted in the Checkers signing defenseman Brandon Gentile to a professional tryout on March 2, which lasted until the Checkers released him on March 27. Gentile played seven games for Charlotte, tallying one assist.
   


The Checkers returned John Muse to the Florida Everblades (ECHL) on March 2, after the return of Justin Peters left the team with three healthy goaltenders. During his last stint with the Checkers, Muse appeared in five games with a record of 2-1-2. Since his return to Florida, Muse has played in 12 games, posting a record of 9-3-0 with a 2.41 goals against average and .916 save percentage.
   


On March 2, the Carolina Hurricanes returned goaltender Justin Peters to the Checkers, after calling him up on Dec. 14 to replace the injured Brian Boucher. Peters appeared in eight games for the Hurricanes, posting a 2-3-2 record with a .900 SV% and 3.23 GAA. Since returning to the Checkers lineup, he has played seven games, posting a record of 1-3-2 with a 3.33 GAA and .875 SV%.
