The seventh annual Salute to Heroes, presented by American Airlines, was held Sunday when the Checkers hosted the Chicago Wolves at Time Warner Cable Arena, with more than $23,000 raised for families of fallen public service workers.
Following the game, 3,000 fans stayed to watch the Heroes game, which featured the Charlotte Fire Department and Mecklenburg County EMS versus the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
