CANES INK DURNO TO TWO-WAY DEAL


CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Carolina Hurricanes announced today they have signed forward Chris Durno to a one-year, two-way contract.

Durno, 30, served as captain of the Norfolk Admirals in 2010-11, notching 36 points (19 g, 17a) and 120 penalty minutes in 73 AHL games. He scored three goals and added seven assists to go along with a +6 rating in 12 games against the Checkers.

In 366 career AHL games with Milwaukee, Norfolk, Portland, San Antonio and Lake Erie, Durno has totaled 211 points (108g, 103a) and 519 penalty minutes. He set AHL career highs in games played (80), goals (23) and points (49) with San Antonio in 2007-08.

The Ontario native has played 42 career NHL games, all with Colorado, totaling eight points (4g, 4a) and 47 penalty minutes, while making his Stanley Cup playoff debut against San Jose in the Western Conference Semifinals in 2009-10.
