CHARLOTTE, NC—The Charlotte Checkers have added longtime Carolina Hurricanes photographer Gregg Forwerck to their staff for the 2009-10 season.
Forwerck has been a professional photographer for over 25 years, specializing in professional sports action and portraiture. He has served as the team photographer for the Carolina Hurricanes since the team’s inception in 1997.
Gregg is also a senior photographer for Topps Trading Cards in New York and has covered MLB baseball, NBA basketball, NHL hockey and NFL football for 20 years. His work has been published in dozens of books, hundreds of magazines and newspapers around the world.
“I’m excited to have this opportunity to work with the Charlotte Checkers,” stated Forwerck. “Minor league hockey has a wonderful atmosphere for fans and their families which also lends itself to making exciting pictures.”
Forwerck has prior experience in the area with the Charlotte Knights and now-defunct Hornets of the NBA and lives in Indian Trail, N.C. with his wife Michele and children Megan, Jake and Madeline.
The Checkers are currently 2-1-0 and will travel to Gwinnett Friday before returning home for the home opener this Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m., also against the Gladiators. Ticket information can be obtained by calling 704-342-4-ICE or visiting www.gocheckers.com. Ticket packages offer substantial savings over box office prices and start at only $40 for four games.
