MARSHALL RECALLED; LAWRENCE SIGNED

CHARLOTTE, NC—Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced Monday that rookie forward David Marshall has been recalled to the American Hockey League’s Lake Erie Monsters.

Marshall, 24, joined the Checkers for two games after beginning the season with Lake Erie and scored a goal in Saturday’s 4-2 win over Florida. In 16 career AHL games, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound rookie from Buffalo, Minn. has two goals and three assists.

With the recall of Marshall, the Checkers have signed former Boston University standout Jason Lawrence to a contract.

Lawrence, a rookie out of Saugus, Mass., spent his four-year collegiate career at Boston University. In 2008-09, he led the team in goals with 25 and helped the Terriers capture the 2009 NCAA Championship. In 158 career NCAA games, the 22-year-old winger notched 46 goals, 51 assists and added 123 penalty minutes.

Prior to college, Lawrence skated for the U.S. National Under-18 Team where he collected 25 goals and 22 assists in 56 games over two seasons.

The Checkers are currently 2-1-0 and will travel to Gwinnett Friday before returning home for the home opener this Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m., also against the Gladiators. Ticket information can be obtained by calling 704-342-4-ICE or visiting www.gochecker. Ticket packages offer substantial savings over box office prices and start at only $40 for four games.s.com
