CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Jeff Daniels announced today that forward Zach Boychuk has been returned to the team from the Carolina Hurricanes.
Boychuk, 21, recorded a goal and an assist in two games on this most recent stint and has seven points (4g, 3a) in 18 NHL games with Carolina this season.
The Alberta native ranks third in Checkers scoring with 39 points (15g, 24a) despite playing only 31 games. He recorded a hat trick in Sunday's 9-5 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and has 11 points (5g, 6a) in his last four games overall with the Checkers.
Boychuk spent 31 games with the Hurricanes last year, notching three goals and six assists. He was a first-round draft pick (14th overall) of the Hurricanes in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
