CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced today that forward Zach Boychuk has been re-assigned to the team by the Carolina Hurricanes.
Boychuk, 21, notched three goals and two assists in 16 games with Carolina after being recalled on Dec. 17. At the time of his recall, the Airdrie, Alberta native ranked second in AHL scoring with 32 points (10g, 22a) in 28 games with the Checkers.
Boychuk is a former first-round pick (14th overall in 2008) of the Hurricanes and has 14 points (6g, 8a) in 49 career NHL games over the last two seasons.
In addition, the Checkers have announced that forward Cedric McNicoll has been re-assigned to the ECHL's Florida Everblades. McNicoll had two goals and three assists in six games in Charlotte.
