CHARLOTTE, NC - Defenseman and team captain Bryan Rodney and forward Jon Matsumoto have been re-assigned by the Carolina Hurricanes to the Checkers and are expected to play tonight in Norfolk.

Matsumoto, 24, has two goals in 11 games over two call-ups to Carolina this season and eight goals and 11 assists (19 points) in 20 games with the Checkers. 
 
Rodney, 26, leads all Checkers defensemen in scoring with 18 points (5g, 13a) in 30 games this season and has been held scoreless in three games with the Hurricanes.

The Checkers (18-10-4) will battle the Admirals again tonight (7:15 p.m.) in Norfolk before returning to Charlotte Saturday, Jan. 1 to host the Binghamton Senators.
