CHARLOTTE, NC—Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced today the team’s 2009-10 regular season roster. The list includes six former ECHL All-Stars and seven rookies among the 10 returning players from last season and 14 new additions.

Jared Nightingale has been named team captain and Ethan Graham, Michel Leveille and Aaron Slattengren have been named alternate captains.
Andrew Carroll, Kenny Roche, Randy Rowe and Chris Snavely will all begin the season on injured reserve. In recent transactions, defenseman Tysen Dowzak was recalled by the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolfpack and forward Chris Capraro was waived.

The Checkers are set to begin their 17th season in the ECHL. The team will travel to North Charleston, S.C. on Saturday to open the season against the defending ECHL Champion South Carolina Stingrays.
