CANES RECALL TLUSTY FROM CONDITIONING STINT

RALEIGH, N.C. - Carolina Hurricanes president and general manager Jim Rutherford announced today that the team has recalled forward Jiri Tlusty from the Charlotte Checkers. Tlusty recorded two points (1g, 1a) in five games with the Checkers on a two-week conditioning stint.

Tlusty, 22, underwent surgery in late April after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and a torn medial collateral ligament (MCL) during the 2010 AHL playoffs. The Slany, Czech Republic, native played in one of Carolina’s five 2010 North American preseason games during training camp, as well as the team’s 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Challenge game against SKA St. Petersburg in Russia.

The Checkers (2-6-0) will continue their road trip when they travel Binghamton on Friday for a pair of games against the Senators. Fans can watch or listen to the game by heading to www.ahllive.com beginning at 7:05 p.m. The next home game is Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. when the Checkers host the Portland Pirates.
