CHECKERS WEEKLY UPDATE

The Checkers split a four game road-trip this past week, picking up two wins against Johnstown and losses to Reading and Cincinnati. They will now play the next four in Charlotte, where they are currently riding a five-game win streak. In the last 10 days, Tyler Doig, Kenny Roche, Julien Brouillette, Kevin Schaeffer and Miika Wiikman were all called up to Hartford to help the injury-depleted Wolf Pack. Doig returned Friday and made an immediate impact picking up two goals and two assists in three games over the weekend.

Jan. 27 @ Cincinnati (L 4-1)
The Checkers fell behind by three early in the game and could not recover as they were defeated, 4-1, by the Cincinnati Cyclones. David Marshall picked up the lone goal for Charlotte while Wiikman, who entered the game midway through the first period in relief of Ryan Munce, stopped 17 of 18 shots.

Jan. 29 @ Johnstown (W 5-2)
Charlotte spotted the Chiefs two goals and stormed back for the 5-2 win. Andrew Carroll led the charge with two goals, including the game-winner while Tyler Doig, who was returned from Hartford earlier in the day, added a goal and two assists.

Jan. 30 @ Reading (L 3-1)
The Checkers threw 45 shots at Reading goaltender Matt Dalton but could not capitalize as they were downed 3-1. It was the first loss in seven games for the Checkers against an East Division team. Ryan Munce stopped 23 shots in a losing effort.

Jan. 31 @ Johnstown (W 3-2)
Charlotte ended its four-game northern road trip with a win as they defeated Johnstown 3-2. Andrew Carroll scored his team-leading 21st goal of the season while David Marshall notched the game-winner, giving him three goals on the four-game swing. Michel Leveille chipped in with two assists, bumping him to 10th in ECHL scoring.

NOTES:
Charlotte is 13-3-1 in its last 17 home games…Andrew Carroll has 10 goals and six assists in his last 13 games and his five game-winning goals are the second highest total in the entire ECHL. Carroll ranks third among rookies and sixth overall in the ECHL with 21 goals…David Marshall has three goals in his last four games…Tyler Doig ranks fourth in ECHL scoring with 52 points (13g, 39a)…Julien Brouillette has eight points (4g, 4a) in his last nine games and ranks seventh among all ECHL defensemen with 26 points (10g, 16a)…T.J. Reynolds leads the ECHL with 199 penalty minutes and is fifth in overall plus-minus with a +16 rating…Julien Brouillette, Derek Couture, Kenny Roche and Kevin Schaeffer are with Hartford (AHL) while Matt Ford and Randy Rowe are with Lake Erie (AHL)…Trevor Glass, Chris Snavely and Chris Chappell are on the 21-day injured reserve.
