The Checkers are hosting their first-ever "Old-Time Hockey Weekend," presented by Husqvarna, from March 15-17, which will include appearances by the Hanson Brothers and a special screening of the 1977 movie "Slap Shot."
The team will wear specialty retro jerseys for both games, which will be auctioned live following Friday's matchup against the Texas Stars. Proceeds from the jersey auction and movie screening will benefit the Charlotte Checkers Charitable Foundation and Hayden's Hope.
Friday: Game vs. Texas Stars at 7 p.m. featuring on-ice activities with the Hanson Brothers
Saturday: "Slap Shot" screening at Studio Movie Grill EpiCentre at 4:30 p.m. with the Hanson Brothers
Sunday: Rematch vs. Texas Stars

Movie Screening
The Checkers will host a screening of the movie "Slap Shot" at the new Studio Movie Grill Uptown (SMG EPICENTRE) on Saturday, March 16, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. The Hanson Brothers, who starred in the film, will provide live commentary and take part in a Q&A session. Checkers players will also be in attendance.
A limited amount of tickets are available for just $25 and include free snacks and drink specials.
Jersey Auction
The Checkers will wear special jerseys (pictured) based on those the team wore during the early 1970s. Following the game, the jerseys will be up for auction, with proceeds to benefit the Charlotte Checkers Charitable Foundation. The team will again wear the jerseys for Sunday's rematch against the Texas Stars.
A Child's Place Drive
A collection drive for A Child's Place will take place at Friday's game. Those who donate and item will receive a free ticket to the March 29 game, courtesy of Husqvarna.
Accepted items will include clothing (new, sizes 4T-Adult), school uniforms (navy or khaki pants, collared shirts), underwear (new) and hygiene items.
